Vacuum Concrete

Image
When hardening of concrete takes place excess water should be removed otherwise it will reduce concrete strength. So Vacuum concrete the type of concrete in which the excess water is removed for improving concrete strength. The water is removed by use of vacuum mats connected to a vacuum pump. Water cement ratio is important to achieve higher strength and Workability is also important for concrete, so it can be placed in the formwork easily without honeycombing. When Workability requirement is over this excess water will evaporate and leave capillary pores in the concrete and that leads to into high permeability and less strength in the concrete. Therefore, workability and high strength don’t go together as their requirements are contradictory to each other. This technique is such way unique that it can provide to fulfil these two requirement at the same time. This technique is used in industrial floors, parking lots and deck slabs of bridges  etc.  This can be done

Turn your home into a creative space

Image
Creativespace will bring a lot of thoughts and give you pleasant atmosphere to work in. A creative space keeps things organized rather than spreading them all over the home. Choose place which have plenty of natural lights. A part of the kitchen, dining or living room is a good option, as is a hall closet if that’s where most of the family activity takes place. Another bonus of this is that passing family members will also tend to gravitate towards the creative space, making it work for everyone. Get the right furniture. Since we’re all about being creative, we’d recommend re-using an old changing table or installing a fold down table. Now even if you’re using the family dining table, you can still get a rolling art caddy or simply upcycle an old serving trolley. Have basic storage bins or tubs with labels on them and getting them in matching colours and materials will harmonize the entire look. For art work, you can either have a gallery wall or a ‘painting line’ w

Tips for Concreting in rainy season

Image
Concreting in rainy season is one obstruction which is tackled very carefully. Ready mix concrete gets much affected by rain if it still not reached its initial setting time. If ready mix concrete is in between its initial and final setting time than it will leave patch marks. If rain intensity is high than upper portion of ready mix concrete may get disturbed. If ready mix concrete has reached it final setting time than it turns into a source of curing of ready mix concrete. Water content should be specified for the mixture and depends on the wetness and humidity of raw material. This water-cement ratio can be reduced by mixing suitable admixtures. The use of hydrophilic crystalline admixtures when laying the concrete provides concrete with the resistance to infiltration of water under hydrostatic pressure. By using this admixture we can block pores and microcracks in the ready mix concrete thus preventing passage of water and this will decrease not only initial

Techniques of Soil Improvement

Image
Soilimprovement is to improve its engineering performance such as strength, reduced compressibility, reduced permeability, or improved ground water condition. There are various techniques used for the improvement of the soil based on the construction activity and type of soil. The soil improvement techniques are the following. Ø   Surface Compaction: This is process to make soil densify. Any soft and loose site needs a compacted base for lying the structure. All conventional rollers like smooth wheel, rubber-tyred, sheep foot, vibratory and grid rollers can be used. Ø   Drainage Methods: When the water presence increase that will create pore water pressure and decrease the shear strength so ground water has to be controlled. Heavy inflow of water can cause erosion. So certain methods will have to be adopted to control ground water. Ø   Vibration Methods: Vibration methods can be effectively used for rapid densification of saturated non-cohesive soils. Some of t

Subgrade and Subbase for Concrete Slabs

Image
Subgrade and Subbase are the foundation of a concrete slab and play critical role in its performance.  Subgrade for Concrete Slab This is essential for concrete slab because this concrete slab load and imposed loads are supported by subgrade. When required, this concrete slab can be placed on the top of natural soil. Concrete slab can be made by using Sanghi Cement, Sanghi OPC 53 Grade cement, Sanghi PPC cement, Sanghi Ready mix concrete. Sanghi is the major cement suppliers in Gujarat also the ready mix concrete manufacturer. Concrete slab does not need any extra layers as it is clean and compacted. If soil is wet due to rain or any other reason than it cannot be compacted and suitable grade cannot be obtained. The organic soil is the least desirable because it cannot be consolidated and hence shall be removed from the site. All type of soils need improvement and this can be done by compaction and stabilization. Stabilization can be done by Ordinary Portl

Dynamic Compaction

Image
This compaction type for soil improvement is an efficient and cost-effective technique. In this technique dynamic effect of high energy collisions on weak soil to make it more dense. This is generated by dropping a static weight from a defined height. In this steel box, concrete or reinforced mass concrete are lifted through the cranes and released it repeatedly from a certain height. This dropping will bring vibrations on soil into play and improves it at a depth. Dynamic compaction is used to improve weak soil such as loose medium to coarse grained sand with salt or clay content. This improves the depth of about 10m but its impacts reach till 12m depth. The purpose of dynamic compaction technique is to transmit high energy waves through a compressible soil layer to improve Geotechnical properties of soil at greater depths. This concept is simple but required experienced engineers. This reduces air and water voids between soil particles. Advantages of dynamic com
